I’m an avid reader, bibliophile, book hoarder and lover of all things literary. But I’m not a professional reviewer. I have a full-time job unrelated to books or publishing so reading, book blogging and reviewing are strictly hobby activities and (sadly) have to fit in around other things. I know far more about pre-legislative scrutiny than is good for the human soul.
For several years I ran a successful secondhand bookshop on line but couldn’t quite bring myself to move away from London to be able to afford the space that growing the business would require, so I went back to being employed full time. These days I ache to be back in bookshop-land.
I love London and enjoy reading about the city and the areas where I live (Wimbledon) and work (Westminster). That passion affects many of my reading choices – always partial to a good story set in the fair city.
Other things I like include horse riding, theatre, cycling, coffee and cooking. The more of these I can enjoy with friends, the better.

Synopsis as follows:
October 31st. The quaint little town of Elora, Ontario has held its annual Halloween festival for the past 50 years but this year it takes a terrible turn. A young boy nearly drowns while bobbing for apples. Shortly after, a group of children are attacked by a flock of crows. Local eccentric, Missy Claridge, senses a mysterious connection between the two incidents and warns the town officials to postpone the upcoming festivities. Unfortunately her premonition is ignored and later that evening, all the children in the village suddenly disappear. The townsfolk are baffled. Soon, every person becomes a suspect as residents frantically try to discover what happened to the children and how to get them back.

Futharkia is a city built upon the layout of an ancient rune shape, and a foundation of slavery. However, the Great Fern Jungle that surrounds Futharkia is dying, being bleached white by some unseen force. It is amid this setting that Cyesko Limariar, an aging rune-scribe makes one last attempt at greatness to lift himself out of poverty, even if by fraudulent means.
